One of the oral histories is an interview with my Uncle Lindol B Swofford and I would like to know if I can save his interview in my audio files. Can you tell me if this is possible? Thank you.

I'm so glad that the site is helpful to you.

Unfortunately, there is no transcript for Terrell's presentation about Col. Adams.

I don't know if you're ever in Old Fort, but if you are, Bill Nichols of John's Market is quite an expert on Col. Adams and was a good friend of Binkie's. He's a very shy fellow, but once he starts talking, he's a wealth of information!

Thanks for writing.

This is a wonderful site that is assisting with my own family history research - thank you for the audio and video posts. I notice the interview with Binkie Adams has a transcript. I was also interested in the interview of Terrell Finley speaking about Col. Dan Adams. Is there a transcript of that available?

Hi,

I'm working on a similar oral history project in east London and really like the layout of this blog. Well done on creating a really interesting, easy-to-navigate and informative site! I wondered if I could contact the team who manage it and ask them for any tips about how to organise the material they gather?

My project is based around one community centre which was started in 1889 - we already have a lot of photographs and archive material and will be gathering oral history interviews in order to find out more about the area. I'm hoping to create a resource which is similar to this one for people interested in the history of social work, community and families in changing Britain.

Thanks,

Anna

I grew up in North Cove. I am the great great grandson of John Seawell Brown who bought the Carson House from Col. Carson. Three generations of Brown's lived in the house. John Seawell Brown was a two term state senator and was involved in the early development of McDowell County.
My wife and I have researched and published a scholarly article on the killing of two Italian railroad builders who are buried on what was my grandfather's North Cove farm. Camp six, a huge railroad construction camp was on my grandfather's (Henry Seawell Brown) land.
Freddy Brown, interveiwed on this site, likely a distant relative, was a school mate of mine at the old North Cove School.
